Additional Comments

Boulder Creek is located on Boulder Mountain, in the central portion of the Escalante Ranger District, Dixie NF

Boulder Creek is an example of a creek that isn’t a priority for reintroduction of beaver. The water is fast and the soil is sandy. The riparian conditions are good in this reach. Other photos in this section are of an exclosure near the road on the route to Boulder Creek

Good riparian conditions.

PLT: Artemisia in sand up above the stream.

So much water and so fast – would need lots of dams if beaver were going to be in here.

Sandy soil, therefore not much to hold it together w/o vegetation. Pretty fast. Wouldn’t push beaver reintroduction here. System working pretty good.

Gilia ? An Astragalus

The stream Has right width, right vegetation cover

Sign where cattle have just passed: “Please keep ATV’s on existing roads to prevent resource damage in this area.”

Begin 3268 = turn off from highway we took out of Loa. Then turn Rt. at 7 Mile Ck sign.

Fremont River along road to Tasha Ck; would be good place for beaver
